The Argument Transition
Unlike the transtions into a sentence or a conclusion, an argument transition simply moves the reader from the hook to the thesis statement as quickly as possible.
If I write,
Last year, a nine-year-old boy from Chicago jumped to his death off a nine-story building because a video game convinced him he could fly.
After that, I need a transition to my thesis statement.
That nine-year-old boy wasn't alone. Each year, video games have been blamed for ruining lives, causing violence and even nurturing killers.
After that, I write my thesis statement.
Because of that, I believe violent video games should be banned for all children under 18 years old.
